There was a wide clamor by the Nigerian populace, for the government to adopt such a system of voting in the 2019 national elections.

But the government declined, possibly to avoid the “foreign interference” nightmare which has haunted the US since the 2016 elections. Although, the accusation against Russia stands on wobbly feet. The election sites are so porous, an 11 year old could hack them. The Hackathon event held in August last year clearly exposed this.

But even without the security scares, would you want Nigeria to adopt any of the advanced voting methods? i.e the Paperless voting system or online/internet voting system?

According to this BBC report, Nigeria holds the record as the country with the most children out of school in the world, literacy is at a mere 59.6% and every year ASUU (Academic Staff Union of Universities), the body governing the teaching staff of tertiary institutions in the country, goes on strike because of unfavourable conditions which have grown worse over the years, with successive governments turning deaf ears to the plight of the lecturers and the lectured.

If a large chunk of the electorate is uneducated, requires guidance and assistance to vote properly with the present obsolete system, then how much more when a more advanced one is introduced?
